A word from Ian (Mar 19)

Check out our latest value-driven Prix Fixe menu, which will take us through March and into April.

The à la carte has some seasonal changes too – a marinated onglet steak and fries, a sous-vide Thai-style Mahi Mahi fish steak, lamb Rogan Josh (back by popular demand) and a spring vegetable minestrone soup, along with all your usual favourites. Don’t want to rock the boat too much, but we never wish to be accused of menu fatigue.

Some new additions and variations to the wine list including a Sancerre, Chianti and Côtes du Rhône – all thoroughly pronounceable and delightfully delicious.

Best book early for Father’s Day (Sunday 16th June) if you require the prime slots. We have taken more than 100 bookings for Christmas Day already!

Thanks as ever for all your kind comments on the restaurant’s improving looks (plenty more of those in the pipeline) and in particular your huge appreciation of all the staff, who really do love looking after you regulars.

My business rates battle continues. The not-fit-for-purpose Valuation Office Agency from the lofty towers of Canary Wharf continue to apologise for their failures and other fudges but can’t yet bring themselves to sort my overpayment of more than £50k. For 2019/20 they’ve increased the rate another 10% to over £550 per week, so I’ve told them I’ll withhold any further payment until we are all square, which will take 2 years. Gravy Trainers the lot of them, including Gravesham’s officers who doubtless will summon me to Court for non payment.

As ever
